I grew up on the south west side of Michigan where I was constantly involved in outdoor activities as a child. My interests included hiking, biking, fishing, and hunting. I was an avid sports enthusiast throughout my youth playing baseball, basketball, football, and running track. After high school I attended college at Ferris State University where I earned a degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Upon graduation I moved to Chicago where I gained invaluable life and career lessons at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During my time living in Chicago I competed in several running races of various distances and a number of triathlons. With five years of city life under my belt, I took my career knowledge and adventurous spirit West to Boulder, Colorado. This is where I fell in love with CrossFit.
Three years after joining CrossFit I made the decision to pursue a Level 1 CrossFit trainer course with the goal of becoming a coach. I knew I wanted to help others feel the way I felt with CrossFit; determined, healthier, and stronger. My experiences as a nuclear medicine technologist, combined with CrossFit has inspired my passion to help individuals build a solid foundation of wellness while becoming strong in body and mind. By opening a CrossFit gym I’m working toward making my dream of helping individuals change their lives a reality.

Competitive ski racing was the major part of my childhood. I dedicated all my time to moving around the country, living in different cities to train with the best coaches in the country. Vail, Aspen, Minneapolis, and traveling to many more. When I left ski racing/coaching to head off to College to get my bachelors degree in Aviation Education at South Dakota State University, I also left the gym. I ended up gaining weight due to a lack of motivation and no longer training for skiing.
I started CrossFit in Phoenix, Arizona in 2012. With my years of experience and a love for Olympic weight lifting, I had found my home. CrossFit has brought my love of Olympic lifting and my need for cardio activity and combined them to make my an overall better athlete.

Being active has always been a staple in my life, and growing up in Colorado Springs, CO. made that quite simple to uphold. I played many sports growing up, ranging from track, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, racket ball, to extreme sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing and hiking.
Upon graduation from high school in 2006, instead of going the route of college, I decided to follow in my father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Army and served for 10 years within various positions in the Special Operations community. While serving, I found a new love of fitness as it not only influenced my career, but also the constant push to be the best I could be in everything I did and to lead by example. In 2009 I dropped the typical “Run, push up, sit-up, pull up” routine upon discovering Crossfit through a superior of mine, realizing there was much more to functionality and fitness than the typical “Beach Bod Pump”. My first WOD was “Helen”, and from there I was hooked, not only the feeling of intensity, accountability and measure, but also the community in which you are surrounded in throughout the challenge of achieving improvement.
After 10 years in the service I made the decision to leave the military and improve myself even further by pursuing a degree in Exercise and Wellness, earning my EMT/Paramedic Certification, and using my experiences from leading Rangers in both combat and non-combat situations, to encourage/mentor/coach others in achieving their goals both inside and outside of the gym. I’m a firm believer in fitness can not only make you healthier in life, but mentally as well. It takes the same amount of determination to pursue a new PR on an olympic lift as it does to pursue a promotion at work or better your community or relationships.
I have been with the Octane Family since January 2017, but feel as though I’ve been here since day one. The staff and community have never made the choice of where to train, coach and have an extended family easier!
